Testing Information

Attention, parents of third, fourth, and fifth graders! Testing season is here…

As you may already know, state and federal mandates require that elementary students in grades 3-5 take part in achievement testing each year. All three grades are expected to assess ELA and Math achievement. Students in fourth and fifth grade are expected to assess Science and Social Studies achievement as well. We are now making preparations for those tests.

In South Carolina, ELA and Math achievement is measured using the SC READY, this test is new to us this year. Science and Social Studies achievement is measured using SC PASS.Our school has chosen to take SC PASS and SC READY in the online format.

All 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will take the ACT Aspire. Students will take the English, Math, Reading, and Science assessments.

Students will take SCREADY in April. Students will take ACT Aspire and SC PASS in May. The dates are listed below. Please mark your calendars!

Appointments and Testing Dates:

Please ensure that no appointments are scheduled during these testing dates.  Students who miss school on these dates will be required to make-up tests during subsequent school days.

Students are required to begin and end their tests on the same day. For that reason, students who begin their tests and are picked-up early for an appointment may not have sufficient time to complete their tests and will not be allowed to complete their tests on a different day.

On Test Days:

Students should have a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast to help them feel and think their best. They should be on time to school, and come to school happy, relaxed, and wearing comfortable clothes and footwear. A jacket or sweater might also be appropriate, in case the testing room is cooler than expected

Students should avoid bringing any electronic devices of any sort to school as they are prohibited in their classrooms during testing.
